About the Position - 10-20 hours/week – flexible schedule!

Monod Bio is looking for a lab & office management support intern to join our protein design team. We are looking for a highly motivated detail-oriented individual in their 1st-2nd year of a biochemistry (or related) degree, preferably with some prior wet lab experience. You will be working closely with our protein design scientists and our lab management team to support their research in protein design and lab operations. You will also provide support for general office operations. This internship additionally offers exposure to innovative AI protein design technology and the environment of a biotechnology start-up.

Qualifications:


  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.

  • Pursuing or having completed a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, biophysics, biotechnology, or related fields.

  • Preferred: Previous internship or work experience in a biochemistry (or related) laboratory.
  • Previous general office experience is a plus.

Role:

Our internship will offer students the opportunity to become proficient in many aspects of protein biochemistry, including:


  • General lab maintenance tasks, including: washing and autoclaving glassware, lab waste disposal, inventory management, and lab supply orders.
  • Preparation of media, buffers, and laboratory stock solutions, organize, and keep record of centralized lab materials, including plasmids and purified proteins.

  • Opportunity to learn the following techniques:

    • Molecular cloning, bacterial transformation, and DNA sequencing.

    • coli bacterial protein expression and purification

    • Protein biochemistry and analysis using several different biochemical and biophysical techniques, including SDS-PAGE, SEC-MALS.

    • Biosensor testing using biolayer interferometry (BLI) and luciferase luminescent reporter assays.
  • General office maintenance tasks including: loading and unloading dishwasher and cleaning kitchen space, snack inventory and management, and office supplies inventory and management.
  • Responsible for coordinating any office social events (such as company lunches), answering doors, and providing any additional support to Research and Business Operations teams.
